Why not decorate the easy way with some paint!  Or skip the paint and put up a peel and stick that provides a mural of the Star Trek Enterprise or Star Wars.  Theme rooms and theaters are fun for adults and kids, and this makes it easy.  Any character and theme can easily become a part of your decor.  Have fun without the mess or paint.  Make something fun without being married to it for the next 20 years.  Enjoy your space and add some character!!!!!!
